Page to Stage Writing Competition
We’re delighted to launch our Page to Stage Writing Competition, giving local writers the opportunity to have their work read and celebrated by experienced theatre professionals. We can’t wait to discover new voices and exciting new plays.
Submission Guidelines
- One play per writer.
- Competition deadline: 11.59 pm Friday 28 August.
- Winner announced: Thursday 10 September.
- Scripts must not contain the writer’s name or any other identifying information to ensure anonymous judging.
- Please ensure all pages are numbered.

Meet the Judges
Sharon Sinclair
Writer, Producer & Founder of Blackpool Belle Productions
Sharon Sinclair is an award-winning writer, producer and founder of Blackpool Belle Productions. She has written and produced a number of acclaimed stage productions, including Fracking Grannies and Ice Cream on the Beach, and is passionate about championing new writing and creating opportunities for emerging talent.
Sarah Green
Writer & Director
Sarah Green is an experienced writer and director with a passion for developing original theatre. She has worked with writers and performers across a range of productions and brings a keen eye for storytelling, character and stagecraft.
Denis Askham
Stage Manager & Director
Denis Askham has many years of experience in theatre as both a stage manager and director. His extensive production knowledge and practical understanding of what works on stage make him an invaluable member of the judging panel.
Please Note:
The selected writer will retain full credit for their work. Blackpool Belle Productions will be responsible for all artistic and production decisions relating to the staging of the play, including casting, rehearsal and direction.
The writer will not be involved in the casting or rehearsal process. However, they will be warmly invited to attend the first table read, providing an opportunity to observe the beginning of the rehearsal process and answer any questions the cast or creative team may have regarding the script.
As part of the normal rehearsal process, minor script amendments may be made to improve pacing, clarity, staging or performance. Where substantial changes are considered necessary, these will only be made following consultation and agreement with the writer wherever reasonably practicable.
